The always talented Andy Kuhn (Firebreather) sent me a scan of this great Marquis commission he recently had of the Marquis facing off against a towering devil~ unfortunately I wasn't the lucky customer! You can check out more of his cool commissions and comics over at his blog too!

Amy Clark drew this wonderful portrait of the Marquis shadowed by a toothed and tentacled devil (in fitting shades of grey and reds) for an exchange on the Penciljack forums! Check out her deviantart page for more cool drawings!

Another convention gift from Detroit Fanfare is this great portrait in miniature by Andrew Shirey, who gave me this cool and moody trading card size portraiture of The Marquis~ Thanks Andrew!

Jay Jacot gave me this wonderful Marquis piece at the recent Detroit Fanfare show (Thanks, Jay!) With the Marquis taking care of a lurking high society devil in the alleyways of Venisalle~ love the little creatures trying to crawl back in from the spilling guts and the tentacle dress!

From ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night~ deliver us CANDY!

Happy Halloween everyone, I hope ahead lies a wonderful night of cavorting with devils and partaking in that yearly orgy of wrapped sweets gluttony! And for a special Halloween Diablerie we have the Marquis himself~ costumed by the amazing Mike Oeming (artist on Powers, Mice Templar and the new Rapture series for Dark Horse) who dressed up like Vol de Galle to haunt those candy strewn streets of All Hallows Eve!

Trick or Treat!

Halloween is just around the corner and instead of passing out candy to the gremlins knocking at the door, I'll be at the Detroit Fanfare Comicon on Oct 30-31st in Dearborn, Michigan! If you're in the area please stop by my table in artist alley to say hello~ along with sketchbooks, original artwork and copies of The Marquis:Inferno for sale, I'll have free Marquis pins too!

Above: An almost completed page to the upcoming Marquis and the Midwife, as Vol de Galle escapes the frozen waterworks of Venisalle. After finishing it I didn't like the architecture to the last panel and redid it~ I'll post a peek at the new panel compared to the original above in a future blog post!

Saturday, October 16, 2010

The always amazing (and Sandman Mystery Theatre cohort) Matt Wagner revisits the Marquis! This was a convention drawing he did back in 2008 (which unfortunately wasn't grabbed up by me), but Matt painted the first Marquis: Danse Macabre cover for the mini-series launch back in 2000!

Gearing up for Halloween, P. Calavara sent me this cool pinup of the Marquis hanging out with a party of devils~ and in true Marquis fashion, one of the guests shows up without pants (which amuses the Sin of One devil to no end)!

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Another wonderful drawing of the Marquis by the crazy talented, Alex Sheikman! You can see more of Alex's takes on the character in the earlier Diableries~ and of course check out his blog for more cool art all around!

Sorry about the missing Diableries in the past weeks~ but to get everything back on track, here's a double Diablerie dose for Sunday! Starting with this haunting painting by Bartosz Jekiel of a lurking devil of Venisalle, or maybe it's a portrait of Vol de Galle showing his inner turmoil as the Marquis!

Marquis in the Dark

Sorry about the lack of progress updates~ I've still been working away on the new Marquis and the Midwife alongside BPRD for Dark Horse Comics and still looking at 2011 as the publishing date to the next Marquis book! I'll be posting more peeks soon, but for now here's a look at the progress of a page (sans lettering) from layouts to finished greys with Vol de Galle finding himself lost in the dark.

Saturday, August 7, 2010

The next round of Marquis Diableries starts off with this hilarious meeting of the Marquis and Dead Duck by the crazy talented Jay Fosgitt! I'm a big fan of Jay's art (wonderful life and character to it all) and his Dead Duck book is funny as hell~ so it was great to see him poke fun at the Marquis! Love that chicken leg eating devil!

Sorry I didn't make it down the huge San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) going on this week~ but I was able to send along the Marquis and contribute to the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund) sketch card auction! I did 2 cards, one B.P.R.D and one for the Marquis that were turned into limited autograph cards you can collect at the convention and also support the CBLDF~ and if you enjoy the devils in the Marquis stories, then you can appreciate the good fight that the CBLDF does to protect the First Amendment rights of comic creators, publishers and retailers.

On Saturday night at the convention the original artwork for the Marquis card above and also the one I did for BPRD will be auctioned off along with tons of original art from different artists! (Starting at 7:30 in Room 3 of the San Diego Convention Center). You can find more information about the CBLDF and the auction in the link below!

Home, sweet Hell! Sorry about the missed Diableries the passed couple weeks~ a couple of conventions threw me off, but the weekend Marquis fanart will be back on track. Starting with this great drawing by the amazing Kassandra Heller.

I got to be artist alley neighbors with Kassandra last weekend at the S.P.A.C.E expo and she was kind enough to draw me a really cool Marquis (that I'll post in the coming weeks), but during the show she also drew the above piece on her table cover (and I was able to convince her to tear it off for me after the show)~ showing the Marquis wishing he was home surrounded by me and my fiancee's menagerie of pets.
