Herzoge and Planchet~

A peek at some more pencils to the upcoming Marquis and the Midwife~ as General Herzoge and his second hand, Planchet look for clues to the mysterious "markings" found about the city of Venisalle.

I was never happy with the original designs for Planchet, in the Inferno stories he was a pretty nondescript face. Since the focus was usually on Herzoge I didn't really flesh him out, but since he plays a bigger part in the later books starting with Midwife I was able to rework his design to give him more character.

  1. That looks awesome as always. When did you start a blog for the Marquis?

  2. These are beautiful! How much is invented at the inking stage? Do you leave a lot of leeway?

  4. Thanks! I leave alot open for the inking, I probably fill in background details the most and some pages are tighter than others. I was trying to get a feel for Planchet with these pages, so I pencilled him tighter than I would the Marquis since I'm more familiar with how to draw him. I'll post the inks to this page later on when I get to that stage for comparison.

Glad to hear you'll be checking back, Lucas!

Charlie~ I started the blog last July.
