HELLFIRE!
Something else we were able to redo for the new Marquis: Inferno collection is the color scenes to chapter 5 of the Danse Macabre storyline! I was limited to a one color red drop in when the book was originally printed, but with the new collection Dave Stewart (all around amazing colorist and BPRD cohort) came in to really set that scene on fire! Above left is the original page with Dave's colored version to the right.

looking awesome as all hell
ReplyDeleteOh WOW!
ReplyDeleteI loved the old reds, but the new colours are lush and lovely.
so this will be the 3rd different coloured Hell.
ReplyDeletemy issues are Pink, the TPB is Orange Red and now this a coloured Yellow Orange hehehe
We finally got it right! ;)
ReplyDeleteVince Locke came in and reworked the original pink/red files for the the second printing of the Danse Macabre tpb~ but for the new Inferno, Dave recolored the pages from scratch in full color!
It's amazing the how the cleanup and changes have breathed new life into the art! Even though I was excited to pick this up (even though I've got the issues and TPBs), this just makes me more excited! It's great that the Marquis is finally getting the top notch publishing treatment it deserves!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteHi Guy, I'm a big fan of your stuff. This looks great. Excuse my ignorance, but are Dark Horse going to be putting out The Marquis as single issues as well as collections?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ben,
ReplyDeleteDark Horse will be publishing the new Marquis stories as original graphic novels and not single issues later collected into tpbs, the plan being to release the new books once a year starting in 2010 with "The Marquis and the Midwife".
Dave Stewart is THE man ! That guy has golden hands and eyes. With you Guy, and Mike and Dave and John, a hell of a team for sure !
ReplyDeleteI don't see much of a difference. Looks alright I guess. I am a fan of the more redish pink version. call me crazy but I don't much like photoshopping images - looks too far removed and it kills the line work. and glossy paper just doesn't look good. It looks like the tpb of Danse Macabre will remain the most impressive version. Too bad. I was hoping for something along those lines for this compliation.
